Due to continued growth across the North East, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Construction Tutor to join our Newcastle training centre.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional with a passion for teaching and developing others. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality construction training to learners, helping them develop the practical skills, knowledge and confidence required to progress into employment within the construction industry.
Experience or qualifications in Retrofit would be highly desirable, particularly for candidates with knowledge of energy efficiency, insulation, sustainable construction or retrofit-related skills.
The Role
As a Construction Tutor, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, practical and high-quality construction training to learners from a range of backgrounds.
You will combine your industry experience with strong teaching and communication skills to deliver both classroom-based and practical training. You will support learners throughout their programme, assess their progress and ensure they develop the skills and knowledge required to achieve their qualifications and progress into employment.
The role will involve working closely with the wider Momentum team to support learner attendance, achievement and progression.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality construction training in line with qualification, awarding organisation and funding requirements.
* Plan and prepare engaging classroom-based and practical learning sessions.
* Deliver practical construction skills training in a safe and professional environment.
* Assess learner knowledge, understanding and practical competence accurately.
* Provide constructive feedback and additional support to help learners achieve their qualifications.
* Maintain accurate learner records, assessment documentation and training records.
* Ensure all training and assessment activity meets required quality, compliance and safeguarding standards.
* Maintain a safe learning environment and ensure appropriate health and safety procedures are followed.
* Adapt teaching and learning methods to meet the needs and abilities of individual learners.
* Monitor learner attendance, engagement and progress and identify additional support requirements.
* Support learners in developing the employability skills required to progress into construction employment.
* Work closely with Learner Engagement Officers and the wider centre team to support learner retention and progression.
* Contribute to learner progression by providing information about employment opportunities and industry expectations.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction practices, legislation, health and safety requirements and industry standards.
* Support recruitment events, learner information sessions and employer engagement activities where required.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of training delivery, learner experience and centre performance.
* Represent Momentum Training professionally at all times.
Essential Requirements
The successful candidate will have strong practical experience within the construction industry and a relevant occupational background.
A recognised teaching or training qualification, such as a PTLLS, AET, CTLLS, DTLLS or equivalent, is desirable, or the willingness to work towards an appropriate teaching qualification.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be confident delivering training to groups and individuals with varying levels of experience.
A strong understanding of construction health and safety requirements is essential, alongside the ability to create and maintain a safe learning environment.
You will be organised, reliable and confident completing learner records, assessments and compliance documentation.
Desirable Experience
Experience or qualifications in Retrofit would be highly desirable.
