Protocol Education is recruiting for a full-time Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary SEND school in Newcastle
.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Care Professional or graduate looking to develop their career within a specialist education setting.

You’ll work closely with secondary-aged pupils who may have complex learning needs, communication difficulties, autism and additional support needs
, helping them access education while developing their confidence, independence and life skills.

As a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant, you’ll play an important role in helping pupils engage with learning and develop greater independence.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support
• Supporting pupils to access the secondary curriculum
• Helping develop communication and interaction skills
• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
• Encouraging independence and life skills
• Assisting with classroom and practical activities
• Following individual EHCPs and support plans
• Supporting pupils with personal development and social skills
• Working alongside teachers, therapists and wider support staff
• Helping pupils prepare for greater independence and life beyond school
• Celebrating progress and individual achievements

You don’t necessarily need previous experience in a specialist school, but you’ll need to be patient, resilient and genuinely committed to supporting young people with additional needs
.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
