Are you a passionate and dedicated teacher looking for a role where you can truly change lives? We are seeking an exceptional SEN Class Teacher to join our specialist education team, supporting students with a range of additional needs, including autism and social, emotional and behavioural needs. You'll have the chance to create engaging, personalised learning experiences that help students build confidence, develop key skills, and achieve outcomes they may never have thought possible. As an SEN Class Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, tailored education to students within a specialist setting. Working closely with Learning Support Assistants, care staff, families and other professionals, you will help create a safe, nurturing and inspiring learning environment where every student can thrive.
What you will be doing
- Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of students.
- Monitoring, assessing and reporting on student progress and achievement.
- Creating a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes learning, independence and wellbeing.
- Developing and reviewing individual education, learning and behaviour plans.
- Supporting students to manage and overcome barriers to learning, including challenging behaviours.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals to ensure consistent support for students.
- Leading on curriculum areas or subject responsibilities as agreed. QTS or equivalent required.
- Experience planning and delivering effective lessons within an educational setting.
- Experience working with students with autism and/or complex behavioural needs.
- Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills.
- The ability to tailor teaching approaches to individual learning needs.
- Excellent communication, organisation and record-keeping skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team.
- Confidence using IT systems and educational technology. Benton House School is a brand-new SEN school for stidents with complex needs including SEMH. It is an exciting addition to the Acorn portfolio based in Newcastle.
- Benton House School will have capacity for 60 students ages 5-14 years old. At Outcomes First Schools, we provide specialist education for learners who need a deeper level of understanding, expertise and support than mainstream education can typically offer. We support students with a wide range of complex, co-occurring and neurodivergent needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and communication needs, dyslexia and experiences of trauma or adversity.
