Graduate SEN Support Assistant

Could your degree be the first step towards a career supporting children with additional needs?

A specialist SEN school in Newcastle is seeking an enthusiastic Graduate SEN Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a pupil and help them thrive both academically and personally.

This role is particularly suited to graduates interested in Psychology, Child Development, Education, Behaviour or SEND
, offering the chance to put your academic knowledge into practice within a specialist school environment.

• Working 1:1 with a pupil throughout the school day
• Supporting access to learning and classroom activities
• Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement
• Supporting emotional regulation
• Developing the pupil's confidence and independence
• Helping with transitions and changes in routine
• Using appropriate communication strategies
• Building a strong and professional relationship with the pupil
• Working alongside teachers and specialist SEN staff

You could be a recent graduate with a degree in Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Education, Childhood Studies or a related subject
.

Most importantly, you'll be:

• Patient and understanding
• Calm and consistent
• Confident communicating with children
• Passionate about SEND
• Interested in behaviour and child development

You'll develop your understanding of behaviour, communication, emotional regulation and individual learning needs
