Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking a Warehouse Automation Specialist to join a cutting‑edge logistics operation in the United Kingdom. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about integrating technology into warehouse systems and driving efficiency through automation solutions. The selected candidate will play a key role in implementing, maintaining, and optimizing automated material handling systems, robotics, and control software to streamline warehouse performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement, maintain, and troubleshoot warehouse automation systems including conveyors, sorters, AGVs, and robotic arms.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to enhance warehouse productivity and reduce downtime.
  • Perform diagnostics and preventative maintenance on automated machinery.
  • Support IT and engineering teams in integrating warehouse management systems (WMS) and control systems (PLC, SCADA).
  • Analyze operational data to identify automation improvement opportunities.
  • Train warehouse and maintenance staff on safe operation of automation systems.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards throughout all processes.
  • Provide continuous improvement feedback to management for process optimization.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of automated material handling systems and robotics.
  • Experience with PLC programming, SCADA, or similar control systems.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and non‑technical teams.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and warehouse management software.
  • Understanding of warehouse safety standards and operational best practices.
Experience
  • Minimum 2–4 years of hands‑on experience in warehouse automation, logistics engineering, or manufacturing automation.
  • Prior experience in an international logistics or fulfillment center environment is preferred.
  • Exposure to robotics integration and system commissioning will be an added advantage.
Working Hours
  • Full‑time position based in the United Kingdom.
  • Standard working hours:
    Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
    , with flexibility for project‑based schedules or system maintenance needs.
  • Occasional weekend or night work may be required during automation upgrades or testing phases.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Deep understanding of warehouse operations, control systems, and material flow optimization.
  • Ability to manage multiple technical projects simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on operational reliability and safety.
  • Innovative mindset for continuous improvement and automation innovation.
  • Capability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
