Chemist – Polymers, Coatings, Inks

An exciting role has become available for a Chemist with a leading manufacturer of high-quality products. You will be contributing to the development of new products, improving existing formulations and optimising manufacturing processes. • Develop and optimise coating formulations and techniques
• Design and implement novel water‑based inks and primers, enhancing performance and sustainability across products.
• Serve as a specialist in embossing techniques, creating innovative textures and patterns to enhance surface aesthetics.
• Introduce new features to surfaces, improving functionality and aligning with market trends.
• To support product qualification and approval programmes in support of the NPD&I portfolio where appropriate.
• Conduct laboratory experiments and testing to evaluate the properties and characteristics of films and surface coatings.
• Work with production personnel and provide technical support and assistance as required to resolve production and quality issues in support of new and existing products.
• Provide technical support to customers regarding product specifications, application techniques, and troubleshooting assistance.
• Assist in the evaluation of raw materials, suppliers, and vendors to ensure compliance with quality standards, cost‑effectiveness, and sustainability requirements.
• Occasional travel will be required for customer visits, training sessions and industry events, sometimes outside of usual working hours

• Knowledge of polymers, resins, and surface coating/decorating technologies and the ability to bring new methodologies in these areas.
• Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science or Material Science
• 5 years industry experience in the coatings, ideally plastics or material coatings would be desirable.
• Excellent communication skills
• Knowledge of new product development, process safety, optimisation, and improvements.
• Ability to plan, organise, carry out testing work and to analyse results.
• UK Driving Licence is required
• Candidates must have the right to work in the UK, sponsorship is not available
