RPS, Tetra Tech are opening a new position for a Statistical Analyst in our growing Water Consultancy. In this role you will be at the centre of the team and become involved in multiple projects, which will suit a resourceful collaborator who is energised by problem solving to deliver the best client outcomes.

Many metrics used in the water industry do not lend themselves to parametric analysis, probabilistic averaging or conventional understandings of confidence intervals or data cleansing. Time series analyses are conflated with causality and multiple sample bias issues.

Taken together these issues confront us with a complex statistical environment that requires a deep insight and understanding combined with pragmatism to best represent the real world in the statistical domain with due regard to established reporting methodologies and requirements.

About The Team

RPS Water Consulting is a team of Engineers, Modellers, and Data Analysts providing Asset Management and Operational Strategy development, to our Water Industry clients to support business planning and delivery. About You

As a key member of the Water Consultancy business, your role as Statistical Analyst is critical to helping us deliver great projects for our Water Industry clients. You will be working alongside a multi-disciplinary team of water project experts on a range of projects.

Our scope of work encompasses a wide range of technically demanding projects in the field of clean water supply analysis and forecasting.

Your Responsibilities
  • Support analysts and modellers in identifying optimal modelling and testing methodologies
  • Ensure consistency with established reporting requirements and methodologies
  • Audit statistical and modelling processes and outputs within RPS projects and assist clients in same on a consultancy basis
  • Assist with the preparation of client reports, outputs and proposals and liaise as required
  • Ensure the accurate reporting of statistical and modelling processes
  • Collate and disseminate preferred approaches to statistical methods such as outlier identification and exclusion on water industry specific data
  • Respond to ad-hoc queries internally and from clients as required
  • Mentor the wider team in the correct use of statistical methods

Skills, Knowledge, And Experience
  • Formal training in statistics or a statistically based subject to a minimum of degree level
  • A wide understanding of non-parametric statistics and confidence intervals in lognormal, binomial and unclassified distributions
  • A sound working knowledge of probabilistic, regression and ML modelling methods
  • An understanding of econometric methods would be advantageous
  • The ability to interpret Python code and Excel macros would be advantageous
  • An understanding of the water industry regulatory framework and reporting would be advantageous
Qualifications
  • Preferably degree qualified in a relevant technical subject, such as mathematics, engineering, epidemiology or natural sciences, or financial disciplines
  • Postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
