Job Description

AECOM’s Bridges business line is expanding due to recent high‑profile project wins. We are looking for ambitious, hardworking, enthusiastic Civil & Structural Engineering graduates who have strong computational, mathematical and design skills. Candidates will work on a variety of projects from concept design to implementation for clients locally, nationally or internationally. You will be focused on delivering results while finding enjoyment in technically challenging projects.

Our Bridges teams provide wide challenging opportunities in an ever‑evolving industry. You could work on UK or international projects from our London, Madrid, Italy, US and Middle East offices; undertake assessment and maintenance of the current UK bridge network; or propose renewal structural works. With both international and domestic clients, we are committed to providing quality, innovative and sustainable solutions using the latest technology in civil & structural engineering and collaborating across disciplines.

Recent projects include the Edmonton Capital Line Network Arch Bridge, Cumberland Basin Bristol, Canada;
Jodrell Bank Telescope;
North Manama Crossing, Bahrain;
Thames Tideway, Tower Bridge Refurbishment;
Grove Ferry Bridge replacement;
Civil Assessment Framework Agreement (CAFA);
King Edward Bridge;
Gateshead Viaduct; M54 to M6 Link Road;
National Highways Specification for Highways updates;
Huntingdon Railway Viaduct Decommissioning; M11 Junction 7a.

Job Responsibilities

Graduates will contribute to the design of structures from inception to completion, undertake assessment of existing structures through various stages such as on‑site inspection and analysis, or manage resources and tasks within a scheme of structures. AECOM is committed to developing our graduates through mobility between projects and gradually increasing responsibility.

Qualifications
  • BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering with a 2:1 classification (or equivalent) or above
  • MEng or MSc in Civil or Structural Engineering an advantage
  • Structural modules or Structural/Bridge Engineering experience an advantage
  • Good technical understanding of Civil & Structural Engineering
  • Demonstrable interest in Bridge Structures Engineering and a career in this industry
  • Willing and able to work towards chartership with the ICE or IStructE
  • Good Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Effective communication skills to internal and external clients, both verbally & in writing, with confidence to engage a variety of people and to explain, explore and discuss technical issues
  • Enthusiastic, hard‑working, ambitious and driven
  • Ability to structure & prioritise work effectively through close cooperation with the team
  • Ability to work in a team and independently without losing initiative & focus
