Overview
Warrington fire, part of Element, is seeking a highly organised and detail‑focused Calibration Coordinator to support and maintain the calibration programme across our Warrington and Birchwood sites. Working closely with the Calibration Engineer, this role is essential in ensuring that all measuring equipment is calibrated accurately, is traceable, and is in compliance with relevant standards and accreditation requirements. The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational skills, good attention to detail and clear communication skills which allow effective coordination with internal teams and calibration suppliers.
Responsibilities- Work alongside the Calibration Engineer to maintain and improve the site‑wide calibration programme
- Ensure calibration schedules are up‑to‑date and all equipment is calibrated on time according to internal procedures and accreditation standards
- Assist with internal calibrations and coordinate external calibration services
- Maintain accurate calibration records and documentation.
- Act as a contact for external calibration suppliers, managing quotes, scheduling, turnaround times, and certificate queries
- Manage the dispatch and return of equipment requiring external calibration
- Review calibration certificates to ensure results meet acceptance criteria
- Assess certificates for compliance, drift, traceability, and completeness
- Highlight non‑conformities and support impact assessments
- Ensure calibration processes comply with internal quality systems and external accreditation requirements
- Support investigations into calibration‑related non‑conformities and contribute to continuous improvement of calibration workflows, documentation, and processes
- Assist with audits and provide calibration‑related evidence when needed.
- Work with lab teams across both sites to ensure calibration needs are met
- Provide updates on equipment status and calibration priorities
- Support minimising operational disruption by coordinating calibration activities effectively
- Minimum A‑levels in Mathematics, Science, Engineering, or related fields
- Experience in calibration, metrology, or laboratory environments desirable
- Understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 and traceability principles is advantageous
- Strong organisational and time‑management skills
- Able to analyse data against defined acceptance criteria
- Excellent communication skills for working with internal teams and external suppliers
- Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving ability
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to travel between Warrington and Birchwood sites
- Team‑oriented mindset with willingness to support lab team and quality activities
- Proactive attitude with an interest in metrology and continuous improvement
