Senior Structural / Bridge Engineer

Permanent role with the Consulting Structures team in Newcastle.

As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will support the Practice Lead on a variety of bridges and civil structure schemes, take ownership of projects, mentor engineers and technicians, and lead multidisciplinary teams.

• Lead and produce technically sound engineering solutions.
• Take ownership of bridges and civil structure projects from quotation to handover.
• Conduct structural assessments, principal inspections, and special inspections.
• Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings, and documentation meeting quality, cost, and programme criteria.
• Oversee work of junior staff, ensuring delivery and professional development.
• Liaise with client and supplier representatives at a peer level, attend progress meetings, and respond to queries.
• Manage a small, locally based single discipline technical team.
• Contribute to bid preparation and business development.
• Drive effective health and safety practices.

• Experience and expertise in bridges and/or civil structures, in an engineer role or equivalent.
• Sound understanding of structural engineering principles.
• Ability to produce or oversee technically sound solutions, complying with technical standards and client requirements.
• Ownership of preparation and checking of deliverables.
• Knowledge of relevant software such as Midas, LUSAS, Autodesk Structural Bridge Design.
• Experience in managing health and safety risks.
• Collaborative, proactive problem‑solving within multidisciplinary teams.
• Incorporated/Chartered status or equivalent professional licence.
• Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant subject or equivalent further learning.
