Job Description

Senior Geotechnical Engineer – join our Ground Engineering Practice in Newcastle. You will be responsible for geotechnical design and project delivery across the UK & Ireland. The role offers the flexibility of agile working between office and home.

Responsibilities
  • Apply geotechnical design, working independently and supporting junior team members.
  • Lead geotechnical input from feasibility to final design, including specifications, investigation reports, construction drawings and design reports.
  • Oversee project adherence to programme and budget.
  • Collaborate closely with project delivery teams to ensure technical quality and client satisfaction.
Qualifications
  • BEng/BSc or MEng/MSc in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer (IEng/CEng) status preferred or on track to achieve within one year.
  • Strong knowledge of UK ground conditions, investigation practices and design codes.
  • Experience in geotechnical design (earthworks, foundations, retaining structures, slope stabilisation). Familiarity with design software such as Bentley Slope/W, Rocscience Settle 3D, Oasys ALP, OASYS FREW or Geosolve Wallap.
  • Familiarity with data‑management software (Leapfrog, Open Ground). Knowledge of parametric assessment and correlation methods.
  • Experience in construction, railways or highways is desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to produce clear technical reports.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK.
