Job Purpose We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with specialized expertise in cable and connector systems for offshore wind. The ideal candidate will lead engineering, testing, and commissioning of high-voltage cable/connector systems, including termination, diagnostics, and repair.
Job Description Support internal product development, develop internal standards, strategy for offshore commissioning of power cables, and provide input to the longer term DIAC commissioning strategy.
Specify cable management, Test and Termination procedures of inter array cable connections.
Knowledge of top-side layouts, Topside Connectors from various suppliers and have ability to generate specifications, and documentation to support supply chain.
Coordinate with suppliers and internal offshore installation teams.
Conduct and specify electrical testing in accordance with applicable industry standards, including but not limited to IEC 60229/60840/63026, ISO 13628, CIGRÉ 490/623/841, and IEEE 400 standards.
Perform and/or have knowledge about IR, CR, AC VLF, TDR, partial discharge, Tan Delta, resonance testing, damped AC voltage (DAC) testing post-installation, etc. used to qualify and commission systems.
Perform or review trainset analysis on system, fault analysis, earthing, connectors & testing, and sizing of auxiliary equipment (Joints/Junction Boxes/Enclosures, Cable Routing (CMS)/Cleating, Fire Protection etc.). Hands on testing experience is a plus.
You are meant for this job if:
Bachelor's in electrical engineering.
Strong offshore wind experience with connectors, termination, and testing.
Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), European Engineer (EUR ING) or equivalent preferred.
Strong understanding of IEC, IEEE, ISO and CIGRÉ standards.
Offshore installation experience (offshore wind is a plus).Willingness to travel offshore and internationally.
Strong analytical skills are a must.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Experience working in cross-functional teams distributed across multiple geographies.
Technical Requirements Knowledge of XLPE/EPR-insulated cables, subsea cable joints, and offshore substations.
Knowledge of inter array cable connectors in the market and upcoming technologies.
