Following continued project wins and new client partnerships, we are expanding our Waste & Generation team and are looking to recruit a Senior Mechanical Engineer. You’ll be based across our Redditch or Newcastle upon Tyne offices, working on some of the most exciting and technically diverse projects in the sector.

The Role As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will contribute to a wide portfolio of energy projects, including Energy‑from‑Waste (EfW) facilities, District Heating networks, Gasification and Hydrogen schemes, and Biogas/Anaerobic Digestion plants. You’ll work across the full project lifecycle—from early optioneering and feasibility through to detailed design and installation.

Your responsibilities will include:

Conducting site surveys and technical investigations

Developing mechanical designs, specifications and project‑wide engineering solutions

Supporting the production of drawings, 3D models, P&IDs, schedules and reports

Preparing specifications and scoping documents for construction packages

Reviewing vendor designs and monitoring progress throughout delivery

You’ll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients and contractors to ensure designs are robust, safe and aligned with project objectives.

Your Impact Your work will directly influence how energy is generated, recovered and utilised across the UK. By developing efficient mechanical systems and supporting the delivery of innovative technologies—from EfW to hydrogen and biogas—you will help clients reduce carbon emissions, improve performance and transition to more sustainable solutions.

You will play a key role in shaping project outcomes, ensuring that mechanical designs are technically sound, constructible and future‑ready. Your expertise will support safer, more efficient facilities and contribute to the long‑term resilience of the UK’s energy infrastructure.

Most importantly, your leadership and technical insight will help drive the energy transition forward—project by project, community by community.

About You You will be an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer, ideally with a background in the energy, power, or process‑plant sectors. You’ll bring a strong understanding of mechanical systems such as steam, piping, hydrogen, biomass or EfW technologies.

You will also bring:

Experience delivering mechanical design across complex engineering projects

Strong technical capability in mechanical systems and process‑related technologies

Ideally, Chartered Engineer status—or active progress toward chartership

Confidence working across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility to installation
