Tangent International is urgently seeking experienced, highly skilled Radio Field Engineers to deliver critical cellular network operations and maintenance across multiple regional territories in the United Kingdom. Operating on a 6-month rolling contract inside IR35, you will provide vital field‑level engineering, installation, preventative maintenance, and rapid fault resolution across next‑generation radio access networks (RAN) and microwave transmission systems. As an experienced tower climber equipped with your own vehicle and valid working‑at‑height certifications, you will play an indispensable role in maintaining nationwide mobile connectivity, upgrading multi‑vendor base transceiver station (BTS) infrastructure, and optimizing cellular performance.
This contract offers an exceptional opportunity for qualified UK‑based telecoms field specialists to support leading mobile network operators.
Job Description
As a Radio Field Engineer representing Tangent International across key UK locations—including North East Newcastle, Glasgow/Edinburgh, South Wales, Devon & Cornwall, Loughborough & Grantham, and Preston/North Preston—you will take hands‑on ownership of field engineering interventions on mobile telecom towers and rooftop sites. Operating within dynamic field environments, you will execute routine maintenance, hardware swap‑outs, rigging, testing, and emergency fault rectification on critical telecommunications infrastructure.
Your core technical responsibilities encompass comprehensive operations and maintenance (O&M) across multi‑vendor BTS/RAN equipment, including Huawei BTS, Ericsson ERS, and Nokia Air Scale platforms, alongside alignment and troubleshooting of microwave links with primary emphasis on SIAE transmission equipment. You will climb telecommunications structures to inspect and replace active antenna units (AAUs), remote radio units (RRUs), feeder cables, optical jumpers, and microwave dishes while adhering strictly to UK working‑at‑height and electrical safety standards.
Additionally, you will perform RF feeder line testing, VSWR measurements, fiber optic continuity checks, and commissioning handovers in direct coordination with remote Network Operations Centers (NOC). This position requires UK‑based residency, personal vehicle mobility, up‑to‑date climbing credentials, and a disciplined approach to field safety.
