Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

Documentation Officer (Loan and Facility)

Hybrid role – 3 days a week in the London office, 2 days from home. Office hours Monday-Friday 9am-5pm with a 1-hour lunch.

Our client is a globally recognised, successful bank offering a comprehensive range of retail and corporate financial services. With over 10 million active customers and 700 business locations, we are seeking an experienced Documentation Officer to support loan and facility documentation, facility agreements, closing and drawdown activities.

In this role you will be part of the Documentation and Credit Risk Monitoring team, supporting the lead to plan ahead and deliver the business strategy in line with our long‑term goals. You will oversee bank‑wide and business activities, engagement agendas and executive reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and negotiate facility agreements and associated security documentation for mortgage loans, short‑term loans, trade finance and other approved facilities.
  • Engage with external legal counsels and solicitors to draft and negotiate facility and security documents, monitor progress and ensure timely completion.
  • Ensure execution of facility and security documentation complies with the bank’s policy and procedures.
  • Participate in the closing process and prepare completion checklists to confirm all documents are executed and condition precedents satisfied.
  • Maintain safe custody of facility and security documents and the document register, ensuring expiry dates and deadlines are adhered to.
  • Support the team lead on ad‑hoc documentation‑related tasks as required.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in preparing and negotiating facility & security documentation.
  • Strong ability to manage legal documentation due diligence end‑to‑end for efficiency and cost‑effectiveness.
  • Self‑starter, proactive with initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Adequate legal documentation experience within the financial services industry.
