Management Accountant

Blair West are supporting a confidential, private equity-backed business to find a Management Accountant / Finance Manager.

Entering a significant growth phase following new PE investment, the organisation is professionalising its finance function under the leadership of an experienced CFO. This is a newly created role, positioned at the centre of the finance transformation agenda, reporting directly to the CFO and playing a key part in building a modern, in‑house finance capability to support scale.

• Lead the transition of core accounting activities from outsourced providers to an in‑house model, strengthening control and accuracy.
• Own the month‑end close process, ensuring robust reconciliations, balance sheet integrity, and timely reporting.
• Prepare high‑quality management accounts and deliver meaningful financial insight to senior leadership.
• Play a central role in implementing a new finance system, contributing to testing, integration, and process design.
• Introduce structured processes and controls aligned to a PE‑backed, scaling environment.
• Support investor reporting, banking relationships, and commercial analysis alongside the CFO.
• Drive continuous improvement across finance operations to enhance efficiency and scalability.
• Build strong cross‑functional relationships, embedding finance as a proactive partner to the wider business.

• ACA or ACCA qualification, ideally trained within a Big 4 or leading mid‑tier audit firm.
• A strong technical grounding in financial reporting, controls, and balance sheet management.
• Experience operating in a growing or changing environment, ideally with exposure to PE‑backed businesses.
• Involvement in finance system implementation or process transformation initiatives.
• The confidence to engage credibly with senior stakeholders, lenders, and investors.
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insight.
• A proactive, hands‑on approach with the drive to take ownership and build capability.
• The ambition and trajectory to progress toward Financial Controller in the medium term.
