A well-established and highly regarded growing professional services business in Newcastle is looking to bring an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist into its team. This is a hands‑on role with real variety – you'll be working across a broad client base, dealing with everything from straightforward weekly payrolls to more involved monthly cycles, with plenty of scope to put your expertise to use.

• Running full payroll cycles end‑to‑end (both weekly and monthly) for a varied portfolio of clients, ranging from SMEs through to larger, more complex businesses
• Managing pension schemes across multiple providers from initial setup through to ongoing administration, ensuring contributions and submissions are accurate and on time
• Acting as the trusted first point of contact for clients, offering practical payroll advice and building long‑term working relationships
• Handling the more technical side of the role – reconciliations, manual calculations and resolving queries that need a sharper eye
• Supporting the development of junior team members, sharing your know‑how and helping them grow into their roles

• Solid background in payroll
• Strong working knowledge of current UK payroll legislation, HMRC processes and auto‑enrolment
• Confident with manual calculations and able to spot and resolve discrepancies quickly
• Experience with leading payroll software (Sage, Bright Pay, IRIS or similar)
• Comfortable managing your own workload and working to tight deadlines
• Excellent communication skills – you'll be liaising with clients regularly

• Salary up to £37,000 depending on experience
