Salary: £36,636 to £38,784 per annum, progression to £46,049. Fixed‑term 24 months. Closing date 21 June 2026.
OverviewWe are looking for a seasoned Finance Business Partner to support our Transformation Programme at Newcastle University. The role will deliver high‑quality financial management, advisory support and strategic guidance to the Transformation leadership team across a varied portfolio of projects.
Key Accountabilities- Provide financial support to the Director of Transformation and senior teams, including regular reporting and presentation of performance.
- Prepare transformation benefit cases, plans and quarterly financial forecasts to drive budget compliance.
- Implement a review process to track programme benefits and deliver actionable recommendations.
- Advise externally on financial matters across finance and transformation teams.
- Deliver financial control and ensure adherence to University policies and procedures.
- Build financial capability by delivering training and workshops.
- Collaborate with the wider Financial Performance team and other Finance colleagues to share best practice.
- Cover other Finance Business Partner roles as required.
- Part or qualified CCAB Accountant or equivalent standard, minimum 3 years’ experience.
- Significant experience in management accounting and reporting within a complex organisation.
- Advanced IT proficiency (Microsoft Office, SAP) and familiarity with data systems.
- Strong oral and written communication skills for financial information delivery across varying levels of understanding.

- Significant experience in management accounting and reporting.
- Skilled in analysing complex data using structured techniques and identifying trends.
- Experienced in working within large, complex organisations to support cross‑functional collaboration.

- Effective communicator who tailors messages appropriately across various formats and audiences.
- Analytical mindset and the ability to identify key issues and probe deeper into data.
- Organised, detail‑oriented, structured and methodical approach to work.
- Time‑efficient and prioritises effectively to meet deadlines and objectives.
- Customer‑focused attitude, valuing collaboration and service excellence.
- Clear, concise communicator who adapts tone and delivery to audience needs.
- Positively engaged, taking ownership of tasks and showing commitment to improvement.
- Understands organisational goals, sensitive to wider priorities and aligned with team objectives.
