Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

The Finance Officer will support the Fleet Finance debt management team in the verification and preparation of debtor invoices, chase debtors to maximise income, and prepare and analyse reports. Responsibilities include preparing and inputting data to computer systems, analysing data, ensuring accurate control accounts, and providing assistance to the team.

Responsibilities
  • Handle queries via email and telephone from staff, customers, suppliers, and patients, investigating as needed to ensure issues are addressed in a timely and effective manner.
  • Input data into the General Ledger using journals.
  • Ensure all financial invoices, receipts, credit notes, income, and payments are processed in accordance with standard operating procedures and in line with financial timescales.
  • Support the delivery of key performance indicators for the team.
  • Provide information in accordance with statutory return guidelines (SFIs) and expectations.
  • Investigate queries from staff and customers, including late or non‑payment of invoices and invoice price discrepancies.
  • Work directly with relevant parties to resolve issues quickly and agree workable solutions.
  • Manage a range of customer accounts, requiring strong interpersonal and analytical skills, and develop appropriate plans and solutions that meet both customer and Trust needs.
  • Perform complex calculations, analysis, and reconciliations, including VAT.
  • Input and update customer accounts onto financial systems such as Oracle.
  • Participate in any mandatory, statutory or development training as required.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and agility to handle other tasks and duties as needed to meet the needs of the team and department.
