Senior Planning and Project Officer role within Planning Policy. Based in Newcastle and Gateshead as part of a joint Local Plan development effort.

Job

Planning Policy is key to delivering growth and the priorities for our residents and communities. The role will be central to supporting the delivery of growth and regeneration and we will seek to develop a Local Plan to promote and develop housing and expand the economy, in line with our ambitions. In becoming a greener, more sustainable place, we will develop policies which promote green and sustainable growth, working closely with our communities and stakeholders.

The

Candidate

As a Senior Planning and Project Officer you will work on preparation of a joint Local Plan for Newcastle and Gateshead. This will include scoping evidence, plan development, public consultation and preparing for the examination in public. You will take responsibility for the housing workstream, monitoring progress and risks. You will make an important and positive contribution to the team, supporting the delivery of corporate objectives contributing to addressing climate change, poverty and the cost-of-living crisis.

You will be a highly motivated and ambitious individual with demonstrable post qualification experience in planning policy including in evidence and policy development and an in-depth knowledge of the legislation and planning policy guidance.

You will be a strong, open and transparent communicator, with excellent verbal and written skills, and be comfortable engaging with stakeholders, both within and outside our organisation.
