We are looking for a skilled and motivated Senior Assessment Officer to join our Revenues & Benefits Service, supporting the delivery of Housing Benefit and a range of financial and welfare support schemes.

In this role, you will assess and review complex cases, support the administration of schemes including crisis resilience and housing payments, and contribute to high-quality decision making that supports residents across the city. You will also play a key role in responding to appeals, undertaking quality assurance, and helping to improve our processes and services.

You’ll work closely with colleagues across the Council and with partner organisations to ensure customers receive the right support at the right time, helping to prevent financial hardship and promote independence.

• Assess and review complex Housing Benefit cases and related welfare support schemes.
• Support the administration of schemes including crisis resilience and housing payments.
• Contribute to high-quality decision making and ensure quality assurance across cases.
• Respond to appeals and help improve processes and services.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the Council and partner organisations to provide timely and appropriate support to residents.
• Help prevent financial hardship and promote independence for residents.

• Strong technical knowledge of Housing Benefit.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage complex caseloads.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, provide advice to colleagues and customers, and contribute to service improvement.
