Position: Senior Clinical Fellow in HPB & Transplant Surgery (ST3+ equivalent)
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

Role Overview

The post would suit a trainee in General Surgery with a special interest in HPB and/or Transplant and has a commitment to the HPB on call rota. This post will provide a solid basis from which to apply for specialist research funding. Specialist training in multi-organ retrieval (for transplant focused trainees) is also available.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, engaging and committed individual to work in Newcastle Hospitals trust. This post is designed to suit an individual with an interest in HPB and Transplant Surgery who is looking for a broad experience in HPB, Liver, Kidney and Pancreas transplantation.

Key Qualifications
  • Senior trainee must have completed core training and passed MRCS.
  • Candidate needs experience of HPB surgery at Core Trainee or Specialty Trainee level.
  • Full GMC registration at the time of application.
  • Previous NHS experience is essential (does not include clinical attachments or observerships).
  • Post commences May 2026 for 12 months.
