Are you a passionate and skilled Psychologist or Psychological therapist looking to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children, young people and families?
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic practitioner to join our Newcastle and Gateshead CYPS Mental Health Pathway. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary service providing evidence-based assessment and intervention for children and young people experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties.

- Cognitive Behavioural Therapists (CBT)
- Systemic Family Therapists
- Other appropriately qualified psychological therapists who meet the requirements for relevant professional accreditation and registration
As a Band 7 Therapist, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based psychological assessment and intervention to children, young people and their families presenting with a wide range of emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties.
You will work collaboratively with young people, their families and wider professional networks to develop formulations and care plans that support meaningful and sustainable change. Interventions may be delivered individually, with families or groups, depending on identified need and your professional background and expertise.
Alongside delivering specialist therapeutic interventions, you will undertake the role of Lead Professional where appropriate, ensuring that care is coordinated effectively, risks are managed, and children, young people and families receive seamless support throughout their involvement with the service.
You will be part of a supportive multidisciplinary team and contribute to consultation, care planning, risk management, service development and the wider clinical functioning of the team.

Job responsibilities- Undertake specialist mental health and psychological assessments of children and young people.
- Formulate presenting difficulties and develop evidence-based intervention plans.
- Deliver psychological therapies to children, young people and families in line with professional training and competencies.
- Act as Lead Professional where appropriate, coordinating care and ensuring effective communication across agencies and services.
- Work collaboratively with families, schools, social care and other partner agencies.
- Contribute to risk assessment and risk management planning.
- Provide consultation and advice to colleagues and partner agencies.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team discussions and care planning.
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement and audit activities.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records.
- Have a recognised professional qualification in a relevant psychological therapy discipline.
- Hold registration with the appropriate professional body where applicable.
- Have training and experience in delivering evidence-based psychological interventions to children, young people and/or families.
- Demonstrate strong assessment, formulation and therapeutic skills.
- Are able to manage a clinical caseload effectively and work autonomously within professional competence.
- Have experience of multi-agency working within children's services.
- Are committed to delivering compassionate, person-centred care.
- Can effectively coordinate care and act as Lead Professional where appropriate.
