About DimensionsAt Dimensions, your effort and kindness never go unnoticed. You don’t need previous care experience – just compassion, patience, and a willingness to learn. We’ll make sure you feel valued from day one, with paid training, 30–35 days’ holiday, health and wellbeing support, and shopping discounts through Vivup and Blue Light Card. You’ll also be recognised through our Inspiring People Awards – because when we take care of you, you can keep making a real difference in people’s lives.
Whowill I be supporting?
You’ll be supporting adults with autism and learning disabilities to live as independently as possible within a supported living setting made up of four individual bungalows.
Each shift, you’ll usually be based in one bungalow, while also being part of the wider team. This gives you the opportunity to get to know different people, understand what is important to them and build positive, trusting relationships over time.
The people we support enjoy a variety of interests and everyday activities, including watching films and TV, getting creative with arts and crafts, shopping and choosing personal items, eating out, visiting local attractions and spending quality time with their families.
Routine, familiarity and trusted relationships are important to the people we support. They benefit from Support Workers who are patient, reassuring and genuinely interested in getting to know them as individuals.
What will I be doing?Your role will be all about helping people feel safe, comfortable and confident to live life their way.
You’ll encourage independence and support people to develop everyday life skills, enjoy hobbies and activities, and access their local community. You’ll also provide support with personal care when required, medication, budgeting, cooking, cleaning and maintaining a comfortable home.
At times, some of the people we support may communicate that they are anxious, overwhelmed or distressed through their behaviour, which can sometimes include verbal or physical expressions.
You will not be expected to manage these situations without support. You’ll receive the training and guidance needed to confidently follow individual support plans, recognize changes or concerns, know when to seek additional support, and use Positive Behaviour Support approaches to respond calmly, safely and consistently.
The focus is always on understanding the person, recognizing what they may be communicating and supporting them in a calm, positive and respectful way.
