What is the Digital Technology Solutions Apprenticeship?
Digital Technology Solutions is a four-year degree apprenticeship that combines hands‑on experience with academic study. You’ll complete placements across different digital and technology areas—such as Geospatial, Operational Research, and Asset Information Systems—plus a final 12‑month placement to deepen your skills.
As a Digital & Technology Solutions Degree Apprentice, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals to deliver tech solutions that make a real difference. You’ll get involved in areas like software development, business and systems analysis, cyber security, data analysis, and network infrastructure.
Your job will be to help implement technology that improves processes, boosts productivity, and supports the company’s mission. By the end of the program, you’ll be a confident and capable Technology Solutions Professional, ready to take on a variety of roles in the digital world.
Is this the right apprenticeship for you?You’ll earn a BSc (Hons) in Digital & Technology Solutions, and your progress will be assessed through government standards, evidence folders, and a final independent review. Most of your placements will be at the Sellafield site or one of our satellite offices in West Cumbria, with one day a week dedicated to your off-the-job learning. That means you’ll need to be able to travel to these locations.
As a degree apprentice, you’ll be learning on the job while also studying towards your qualification. This means managing your time effectively is really important. You’ll need to stay organised, keep on top of your college work, and meet deadlines while gaining hands‑on experience in the workplace. Being able to prioritise tasks and plan ahead will help you succeed and make the most of this opportunity.

In addition, you’ll achieve nationally recognised qualifications in:
- Level 6 ST0119 Digital & Technology Solutions Professional (integrated degree) Apprenticeship
- BSc (Hons) in Digital & Technology Solutions
We’re looking for applicants who have a good level of:
- IT Literacy
- Communication
- Curiosity for Technology
The qualifications you’ll need to have, or be predicted:
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs Grade 4 (Grade
C) in Mathematics, English Language & 1 Science or Engineering subject. - Minimum of 96 UCAS Points, all A Level, T-level, BTEC subjects considered.
- 1 STEM subject required (e.g., Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics or Science, IT or Engineering)
- Other Level 3 qualifications may be considered.
- Vocational equivalents at level 3 or higher will also be considered.
If you’ve studied in Scotland:
- 5 National 5s at grade C or above including English, Maths (excluding application of Maths) and a Science
- Minimum of 63 UCAS points at Scottish Higher or 96 at Advanced Higher.
- 1 STEM subject required (e.g., Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics or Science, IT or Engineering)
- Other Level 3 qualifications may be considered.
- Vocational equivalents at level 3 or higher will also be considered.
Please be aware that this role is subject to achieving security clearance. This role requires higher level of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 years of continuous residency in the UK. Factors such as your nationality, any nationalities you may have previously held, and your place of birth can restrict the level of clearance you’re able to achieve.
