At Oxford Innovation Space, we create and manage inspiring work spaces where ambitious businesses can thrive. With over 35 years of experience and a growing network of innovation centres across the UK and Ireland, we support more than 1,000 businesses across a wide range of sectors.

Our centres are more than just buildings – they are collaborative communities where innovation happens. We’re now looking for an Event Venue Technician to join our team at The Catalyst in Newcastle, where you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality events and providing technical support in a vibrant, innovative environment.

The Catalyst is a flagship innovation centre that brings together businesses, academia and the wider community. It’s a fast‑paced, collaborative space where no two days are the same, and where great events and seamless technology really make a difference.

As a key member of the centre team, you’ll take the lead on AV and technical support for events, ensuring everything runs smoothly from start to finish. You will:

  • Deliver end‑to‑end AV and technical support for a range of events, including hybrid and high‑profile events
  • Work closely with customers and speakers to plan requirements and ensure smooth delivery
  • Set up, test and operate AV equipment, including pre‑event checks and practice sessions
  • Provide live troubleshooting and on‑the‑day support during events
  • Support event delivery, including room setups, logistics and front‑of‑house coordination
  • Maintain and proactively check AV systems to ensure reliability
  • Work with internal teams and partners to deliver a seamless customer experience
What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who is technically confident, customer‑focused and proactive in their approach.

  • Strong experience working with AV systems, including conferencing and streaming platforms
  • Experience supporting events and delivering a high level of service to a range of stakeholders
  • A practical, hands‑on approach with the ability to troubleshoot issues quickly and effectively
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive, can‑do attitude and willingness to support the wider team
  • A relevant technical qualification or equivalent experience in a similar environment
Why You’ll Love Working Here

We offer more than just a job – we offer a supportive environment where you can develop your skills and be part of something meaningful.

Salary: £29,000 to £31,000 per annum

Time off: 25 days’ holiday + bank holidays

Flexible benefits: Including options to tailor benefits to your needs

Wellbeing: Wellbeing days, Employee Assistance Programme, and health support
