The Opportunity

AGP are searching on behalf of a leading UK food supply chain and logistics business to appoint an Interim Technology Director to lead a critical phase of its technology transformation programme.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced technology executive who can quickly assess the current technology landscape, establish clear priorities and accelerate the delivery of several strategic initiatives already underway.

The business is investing significantly in its warehouse network, automation capability and operational technology estate. The successful individual will play a key role in modernising legacy systems, supporting the rollout of new distribution centres and ensuring technology becomes a true enabler of operational performance.

Whilst initially offered as a 6-9 month fixed-term contract, there is genuine potential for the role to become permanent.

The Role

Joining the executive leadership team, you will provide immediate leadership across technology, operational systems and automation, ensuring both day-to-day service delivery and long-term transformation remain on track.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing executive leadership across warehouse technology, operational systems and logistics platforms
  • Accelerating a major warehouse technology transformation programme
  • Supporting the delivery of new automated distribution centres
  • Reviewing the current technology estate and identifying opportunities to improve resilience, scalability and operational performance
  • Working closely with operations, engineering and senior business leaders to ensure technology investments deliver measurable business outcomes
  • Leading strategic technology suppliers and implementation partners
  • Coaching, developing and strengthening a technology function
  • Driving improvements across Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transport Management Systems (TMS), automation and operational technology
  • Ensuring technology governance, cybersecurity and service delivery remain robust throughout the transformation programme
About You

We're looking for a hands-on technology leader who can quickly build credibility within a complex operational environment and deliver meaningful change from day one.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Significant technology leadership experience within food logistics, grocery supply chain, 3PL or similarly complex distribution environments
  • Proven success leading large-scale technology transformation programmes

Strong understanding of warehouse operations, automation and logistics technology
  • Experience modernising legacy technology estates whilst maintaining operational stability
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior operational and executive leaders
  • A track record of leading and developing technology teams through periods of change
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to balance operational priorities with strategic investment decisions
Why This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to join a business at a pivotal point in its transformation journey.

You’ll have the autonomy to influence technology strategy, improve operational capability and help shape the future of a nationally significant logistics network, with the opportunity to transition into a permanent executive leadership position as the programme progresses.

Package
  • Genuine opportunity for the role to become permanent
  • Hybrid working (2-3 days per week in the office)
  • Opportunity to lead one of the UK's most significant logistics technology transformation programmes
