Senior Data Engineer – Microsoft Fabric / Azure
£60,000 | 2-Year Fixed-Term Contract | North East | Hybrid
Deekay Recruitment is working with a large, established organisation in the North East to recruit an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join its Data & Technology function.
This is a hands-on senior position with responsibility for designing, building and improving the organisation's data infrastructure. You'll work across modern Microsoft data technologies, developing scalable data pipelines, data models and warehouse/lakehouse solutions that provide reliable, high-quality data for analytics and reporting.
Key responsibilities include:
* Design and build scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines from multiple data sources.
* Develop and maintain data models, schemas, data warehouses and lakehouse solutions.
* Work within a modern Microsoft/Azure data environment, including Microsoft Fabric.
* Develop datasets and models to support Power BI and analytics.
* Improve data quality, reliability, automation and performance.
* Contribute to data architecture and technical design decisions.
* Work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand data requirements.
* Provide technical guidance and support to other members of the team.
* Ensure appropriate data governance, security and GDPR standards are maintained.
We're particularly interested in candidates with experience across:
* Microsoft Fabric and/or the wider Azure data ecosystem
* SQL
* Azure Data Factory / Synapse / Databricks
* ETL/ELT and data pipeline development
* Data warehousing and Lakehouse architectures
* Dimensional/data modelling
* Python/Py Spark
* Power BI data models
* Data quality and governance
This role would suit an established Senior Data Engineer, Lead Data Engineer or experienced Azure Data Engineer who enjoys remaining hands-on while taking greater ownership of technical direction and solution design.
Location:
North East – hybrid working with office attendance required across Newcastle and County Durham.
Salary: £60,000
Contract:
2-year fixed-term contract
