We have an opportunity for a Business Development & Marketing Advisor to join our national Business Development, Marketing & Communications team based in Sydney.
The role is responsible for working with partners on the BD, marketing and comms strategy across the national Commercial Practice which comprises of over 90 partners across Dispute Resolution, Banking & Finance, Employment, Corporate & Commercial, Property & Projects, Private Client and Tax sections.
This role will also have dedicated focus on increasing brand awareness and profile in the Sydney and Newcastle markets and will also be allocated stand‑alone national portfolios dependent on the successful candidate’s expertise, experience and skillset.
The role may require travel to other offices across Australia from time to time.
You will be responsible for:
- advising and supporting the relevant Commercial sections national partners and senior lawyers on strategic firm and personal brand promotion, business development, marketing and practice development strategies, and action outcomes - in line with firm and Section plans.
- advising the Sydney and Newcastle Partners in Charge on strategic firm brand promotion, business development and marketing;
- working with partners and senior lawyers personal brand and practice development strategies;
- identifying business development opportunities for the Sydney and Newcastle markets;
- advising and supporting initiatives for key commercial clients;
- working with the Bids & Pursuits team on firm and commercial tender submissions;
- leading a range of other opportunistic bids, such as proposals and capability statements;
- directory and award submissions;
- working with the Communications team to identify and action external profiling opportunities;
- leading relevant business and industry association relationships, including sponsor ships; and
- working with the Events team on client, sector and national firm events.
You will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- 2+ years’ experience in a marketing and/or business development position (professional services ideal);
- strong knowledge of the Sydney and broader NSW markets;
- tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline;
- ability to build and maintain effective working relationship with key firm stakeholders;
- strong influencing and negotiation skills;
- proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
- excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact at all levels;
- excellent written and communication skills;
- strong attention to detail;
- ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines;
- team player; and
- proactive and strong problem‑solving abilities.
