Senior Buyer

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

CDM Recruitment are working with a leading global engineering organisation to recruit an experienced Senior Buyer / Sourcing Lead for their Newcastle operation.

This is a senior procurement position with responsibility for sourcing across a varied indirect spend portfolio, with particular involvement in CAPEX and OPEX projects.

This is not a transactional purchasing role. You will work closely with project teams and senior stakeholders, leading sourcing activity, managing tenders and supplier negotiations, supporting commercial agreements and identifying opportunities to improve cost, performance and procurement processes.

The Role

* Lead sourcing activity across indirect spend

* Support procurement requirements for CAPEX and OPEX projects

* Manage RFQs, tenders and competitive sourcing exercises

* Lead commercial evaluations and supplier negotiations

* Support supplier contracts and commercial agreements

* Work closely with project teams, Buyers and Category Leads

* Identify and develop new and alternative suppliers

* Analyse spend, supply markets, commercial risks and opportunities

* Deliver cost savings, cost avoidance and improved spend control

* Drive supplier performance across cost, quality, delivery and service

* Ensure compliance with procurement policies and governance

* Support continuous improvement across procurement and source-to-pay processes

The Person

* Strong sourcing and procurement experience, ideally within indirect procurement

* Experience supporting CAPEX and/or OPEX projects

* Proven supplier negotiation, tendering and commercial evaluation experience

* Supplier contracting/commercial agreement experience

* Strong stakeholder-management and influencing skills

* Experience delivering measurable procurement savings

* Engineering, manufacturing, energy or industrial-sector experience would be advantageous

* CIPS Level 4+, MCIPS or an equivalent relevant qualification preferred

Package

The position offers a £50,000–£55,000 salary, 35 days' holiday, employer pension contributions of up to 10%, private medical insurance, critical illness cover, income protection, life assurance, hybrid/flexible working, EV scheme and an extensive additional benefits package.
