CDM Recruitment are working with a leading global engineering organisation to recruit a Sourcing Lead for its Newcastle operation.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to take ownership of sourcing activity across a varied indirect spend portfolio
, with particular involvement in CAPEX and OPEX projects
.

The role goes considerably beyond transactional purchasing. You'll work closely with project teams and senior stakeholders, lead sourcing and tender activity, negotiate with suppliers and support commercial agreements while identifying opportunities to reduce cost, improve supplier performance and strengthen procurement processes.

You'll be responsible for:

• Leading sourcing activity across indirect spend
• Supporting procurement requirements for CAPEX and OPEX projects
• Managing RFQs, tenders and commercial evaluations
• Negotiating pricing, terms and commercial agreements with suppliers
• Working closely with project teams, Buyers and Category Leads
• Identifying and developing new and alternative suppliers
• Using spend and market analysis to support sourcing decisions
• Delivering measurable cost savings and cost avoidance
• Supporting supplier performance across cost, quality, delivery and service
• Supporting contract development alongside internal stakeholders and Legal
• Driving procurement compliance and continuous improvement
• Providing operational Buyer support when required

We're looking for someone with established sourcing/procurement experience
, ideally within indirect procurement.

You'll ideally bring:

• Strong supplier negotiation and commercial experience
• Experience running RFQs/tenders and evaluating suppliers
• Contracting and commercial agreement experience
• Experience identifying and delivering procurement savings
• An analytical approach to spend, suppliers and market information
• Experience with in engineering, manufacturing, energy or another complex industrial environment would be advantageous
• CAPEX/OPEX procurement experience would be particularly relevant
• CIPS Level 4+, MCIPS or an equivalent procurement, supply chain, business or engineering qualification is preferred

This position would suit an experienced Senior Buyer, Strategic Buyer, Sourcing Specialist, Procurement Specialist, Project Buyer or Sourcing Lead looking for greater ownership within a global engineering environment.
