Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

Role Summary

Assist the technical on‑site team in carrying out maintenance and repair activities. This is a static site role across two campuses comprising more than 39 buildings.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the technical on‑site team in carrying out maintenance and repair activities.
  • Undertake non‑technical engineering maintenance tasks.
  • Keep plant and work areas clean and tidy.
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on water systems to ensure compliance.
  • Undertake failsafe and servicing of Tube‑Mounted Vents (TMVs).
  • Work closely with sub‑contractors to ensure works are to a high standard.
  • Be computer literate with the ability to work on the CAFM system on tablet.
  • Carry out clean and disinfection of cold water storage tanks and associated plant.
  • Implement maintenance services, including PPM and reactive maintenance in accordance with building operating manuals, and assist with sub‑contractors and in‑house labour to deliver compliance and contract service levels.
Schedule

Hours Monday – Friday. 3 weeks 07:30 – 15:30 & 1 week of 09:30 – 18:00. Overtime and weekend flexibility required. On‑call schedule available.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Working experience of HSG
    274, Approved Code of Practice L8, and Health Care Memorandum (HTM) Legionella Awareness.
  • Strong background in legionella, water treatment, water hygiene, and chemical handling.
  • Experience with water delivery systems and isolation procedures.
  • Experience with hot and cold water systems management.
  • Water system clean and disinfect training (desirable).
  • Plumbing qualifications up to NVQ Level 3 (desirable).
  • Risk Assessor qualifications (desirable).
