Job Type: 12‑Month Fixed Term Contract
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne (NE3)
Pay: £32,000 Basic Salary + 20% Shift Allowance (£38,400 equivalent earnings)
Hours/Shift Pattern: 3×12‑hour shifts, 24/7 rotating pattern

We’re looking for a technically minded individual to join a busy operations and engineering team supporting a modern passenger rail fleet. This role involves fault finding, problem solving, and decision making in a fast‑paced environment from a control‑room setting. You will play a key role in responding to in‑service faults, supporting operational teams, and keeping services running safely and reliably.

• Respond to train faults and service disruptions
• Provide technical support and fault diagnosis
• Coordinate with operational and maintenance teams
• Log and analyse faults using maintenance systems
• Support fleet reliability and performance improvements
• Produce reports and maintain accurate records
• Ensure safety, quality, and compliance standards are met

• Experience in an engineering, maintenance, technical support, or operational environment
• Strong fault‑finding and troubleshooting skills
• Good understanding of electrical, mechanical, or vehicle systems
• Comfortable communicating with a range of stakeholders
• Able to make decisions and remain calm under pressure
• NVQ Level3 or equivalent engineering qualification desirable
