Accounts Payable Team Lead – Equans UK & Ireland

Equans is looking for an Accounts Payable Team Lead to join the AP team based from our office in Quorum Business Park on a permanent basis. This is a full‑time role working 37.5 hours per week on a competitive salary and benefits package.

You will be based at our brand new, super modern Shared Services office in Newcastle, which is a dynamic multifunctional operation where our people are committed to delivering great services that enable our business to meet its goals.

What will you deliver?
  • Lead, manage and support the Accounts Payable team ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounts payable process.
  • Oversee, review and authorise the payment of non‑PO invoice payments.
  • Manage the OCR solution including appropriate levels of validation carried out on a regular basis.
  • Ensure all invoices are processed in line with Service Level Agreement and maintained below a specified level.
  • Manage the submission of aged invoices with suppliers to ensure good housekeeping is in place.
  • Keep abreast of all relevant legislation in relation to the Accounts Payable service.
  • Ensure there is daily investigation into issues/quality errors in relation to invoice processing.
  • Manage and resolve queries in line with SLAs and communicating with key stakeholders where necessary.
  • Ensure all risk is managed in line with INCOME controls and other risks identified.
  • Comply with finance processes, controls and regulatory framework – always. Ensure areas which could potentially adversely affect the business are expediently highlighted to management.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Identifying training & development needs for the team.
  • Encourage cross training & development.

Who are we looking for?
  • Previous experience within Accounts Payable is highly desired
  • SAP would be beneficial but not essential
  • MS Office including Word & Excel
  • Demonstrable experience leading teams in a similar environment
  • Leader and motivator
  • Excellent planning and administration skills
  • Examples of innovative behaviour
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to manage in an environment where high levels of change are a given

This role includes a Basic DBS check therefore ability to pass is essential.
