About Workout CentralWorkout Central is a new premium training and wellness facility opening in Newcastle city centre, located within Spire Platinum Suites.
The facility includes a high-spec strength gym floor, dedicated Reformer and Spin studios, functional training space, luxury spa facilities and an in-house café.
We are building a strong operational team ahead of launch and are looking for an experienced Assistant General Manager to support the General Manager in leading the business from day one.
The RoleThis is a hands‑on operational leadership role.
You will support the General Manager in the daily running of the facility, oversee service standards across gym floor, reception and café, contribute to membership growth and help build a strong team culture.
We are ideally looking for someone with fitness industry experience who also understands front‑of‑house service and customer flow. An interest in Pilates and studio‑based training is desirable, with full training provided in Reformer and additional class formats.
This role requires someone confident leading from the front — not managing from behind a desk.
Key Responsibilities Operations & Leadership- Support the General Manager with day‑to‑day operations
- Lead shifts across gym floor, reception and café
- Ensure high presentation standards across all areas
- Assist with rota planning and team performance
- Oversee health & safety and operational compliance
- Deliver exceptional front‑of‑house service
- Manage reception flow and member enquiries
- Ensure a premium, professional first impression at all times
- Conduct tours and support membership sales
- Drive corporate engagement within the building
- Handle member feedback confidently and professionally
- Support retention and community initiatives
- Opportunity to train and teach additional formats including Spin, Strength and Mind & Body
- Maintain studio quality and equipment standards
- Support studio utilisation and programming
- Support monthly membership targets
- Contribute to revenue growth across memberships and café
- Assist in delivering KPIs and performance targets
- Experience working in a gym, health club or studio environment
- Experience in a front‑of‑house or reception‑based role
- Interest in Pilates/Reformer training
- Strong leadership presence
- Commercially aware and target‑driven
- Organised, proactive and professional
Reformer qualification is not essential — full training will be provided. Additional studio training will be included as part of your development.
Salary & BonusBase Salary: £30,000 per year
Performance Bonus Structure:
- Monthly bonus linked to membership growth
- Retention‑based incentive
- Quarterly overall club performance bonus
On‑target earnings expected between £33,000–£36,000
, depending on performance.
