The Role

Newcastle Health Research Partnership (NHRP) – an Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC) – is seeking an ambitious, dynamic Project Manager to help deliver on a partner wide portfolio of activity.

NHRP is a collaborative partnership between Newcastle University, Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust, Newcastle City Council, and Northumbria University. Our collective mission is to drive change in the health, wealth, and wellbeing of over 3.2 million people living in the North East of England and North Cumbria.

As part of NHRP core team you will work across NHRP’s programme areas, managing and delivering a range of cross partner projects in priority areas. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of health and research transformation in the North East.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop an understanding of NHRP Partners and the wider ecosystem. Using this knowledge, manage and deliver a range of projects to support the development of fit for purpose guidance, toolkits, and resources
  • Act as the main point of contact for all parties involved in each project on a day-to- day basis, communicating clearly with the project leads, project teams, collaborators, and stakeholders
  • Prepare detailed project timelines and milestones, monitoring progress on a continuous basis, with a clear understanding of any impact on the critical path
  • Actively manage project progress to achieve milestones within set timescales. This may involve collaboration with other organisations e.g. funders, local authorities, and the voluntary and community sector
  • Ensure the early identification of potential risks to meeting required objectives and coordinate the development of plans to recover the situation where possible, keeping the key stakeholders fully appraised throughout
  • Organise regular project update meetings, maintaining appropriate communication with all stakeholders and ensuring actions are created in line with the project objectives and timelines. Ensure agreed actions are undertaken by those assigned responsibility
  • Establish, organise and contribute to project management groups as required to support the project e.g. Advisory Boards, Steering Groups
  • Manage the project finances including forecasting and liaison with the relevant partner finance teams to ensure financial transactions and reporting are managed in line with the centre’s budget
  • Take responsibility for identifying own learning needs, including identifying appropriate learning opportunities to ensure up to date knowledge of NHRP’s priority areas
