Department:Drainage/Depot Network
consists of a strategically located depot network across the UK, spanning from Aberdeen to Plymouth. Enabling rapid response to customer requirements and providing round-the-clock coverage, 365 days a year.
This extensive footprint allows Lanes to combine local responsiveness with national capability, ensuring consistent service standards while maintaining close relationships with regional customers and infrastructure partners.
Purpose of the RoleWe are looking for an Operations Manager to join our team in Washington. As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of operational activities, ensuring teams, vehicles, equipment and resources are managed efficiently, safely and in line with company standards. You will provide strong leadership to operational teams, driving productivity, compliance and service delivery while maintaining a safe and positive working environment.
Responsibilities- Ensuring operational teams are completing work in a timely and safe manner.
- Booking and keeping records of staff training.
- Planning and monitoring on staff workload & scheduling .
- Timesheet, absence, and holiday management. Depot Manager
- Conducting toolbox talks, inductions and stand down meetings as required.
- Ensuring all company vehicles are kept and maintained to company standards.
- Ensuring all fleet are serviced and MOTs covered as required.
- Liaising with the transport department to ensure all procedures/policies are adhered to.
- Calibration of tools
- Making sure all equipment is fit for daily use ensuring the correct equipment is allocated
- Ensure stock Audits are carried out regularly .
- Ensuring all equipment is used correctly and all work carried out safely and efficiently.
- Conducting regular Health and Safety audits
- Ensure compliance on and off site with involvement of the H&S management team.
- Arranging PAT testing Fire Extinguisher servicing and secondary checks .
- Previous Management/Supervisory experience
- Full UK Driving license – no more than 6 penalty points
- Excellent IT Skills with the ability to use all Microsoft Programs
- Excellent Organisational and planning skills
- Experience in ensuring maximum productivity and optimum asset usage.
- Good understanding of Health and Safety.
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

Washington, Tyne and Wear - Salary: Up to £43,000p.a. dependant on experience
