Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

The Mechanical Fitter is responsible for assembling and installing mechanical components within energy storage systems. This role involves hands‑on work with various materials and components, ensuring quality and safety standards are met. The Mechanical Fitter works within the production team to contribute to successful system builds, while supporting installation, testing, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble and install mechanical components according to technical drawings and specifications.
  • Follow industry regulations and company procedures to ensure safety and quality standards are met.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and other equipment to fabricate and fit mechanical components.
  • Work with a range of materials including metal, plastic, and composite components.
  • Conduct functional and safety checks on mechanical parts and assemblies.
  • Collaborate with the production team to meet project timelines and quality expectations.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work area, including proper tool usage and material management.
  • Support other production activities as needed across mechanical assembly areas.
  • Assist with installations and system commissioning when required.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety guidelines and contribute to maintaining a safe workplace.
Relationships
  • Internal: Collaborates with engineers and senior
  • External: May interact with suppliers, and component vendors under the supervision of senior staff.
  • Attention to Detail - Ensures all mechanical assemblies are precise and compliant.
  • Team Collaboration - Works well with team members across departments.
  • Problem Solving – Diagnoses and corrects mechanical faults effectively.
  • Time Management – Delivers work within deadlines while maintaining quality.

  • Technical Proficiency - Uses tools and interprets technical drawings confidently.
Qualifications & Experience

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in mechanical fitting or assembly roles.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools.
  • Familiarity with working across a range of materials and mechanical systems.
  • Understanding of mechanical safety regulations and procedures.
  • Team player with good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to assist in installations and fieldwork when needed.
  • Willing to learn and grow within the Production Team.
