About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced FLT Driver (Counterbalance) to join a leading automotive manufacturing and logistics operation based in Washington, Sunderland. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced production environment, supporting the movement of materials and components essential to the manufacturing process.
The successful candidate will hold a valid Counterbalance FLT licence and have previous experience operating forklifts within a manufacturing, automotive, or warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating a Counterbalance Forklift Truck safely and efficiently.
- Loading and unloading deliveries, ensuring goods are handled correctly.
- Supplying production lines with automotive components and raw materials.
- Transporting finished goods between warehouse and production areas.
- Conducting daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects.
- Ensuring stock is stored accurately and safely within designated locations.
- Completing associated paperwork and stock control documentation.
- Adhering to all health and safety procedures and site regulations.
- Supporting general warehouse and production activities when required.
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
Candidate Requirements
- Valid and in-date Counterbalance FLT licence (RTITB, ITSSAR or equivalent).
- Previous experience operating Counterbalance FLTs within a manufacturing, automotive, or logistics environment.
- Strong awareness of health and safety procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow work instructions and meet production targets.
- Flexibility to work shifts, overtime, and weekends when required.
- Experience with SAP, warehouse management systems, or stock control processes would be advantageous.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Automotive sector experience.
- Line-feed or production support experience.
- Experience loading and unloading HGVs.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing or Just-In-Time (JIT) processes.
- Additional FLT licences (Reach, VNA, etc.) would be beneficial but are not essential.
