Assertive Engagement Outreach Worker - Newcastle

£16-£18 per hour | 12 month contract | Full-time | Drug & Alcohol Support

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals? Do you thrive in dynamic, community-based roles where no two days are the same? If so, we want to hear from you!

We're looking for an Assertive Engagement Outreach Worker to join a dedicated Drug & Alcohol service in Newcastle. This is a hands‑on role, working directly with individuals experiencing substance misuse, homelessness, and complex needs. Your mission? To engage, support, and empower people to access the services they need.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Conducting outreach work in the community—identifying and engaging individuals who may not be accessing support
  • Providing harm reduction advice and brief interventions to promote safer substance use and improved well‑being
  • Building trusting relationships with hard‑to‑reach individuals, offering support tailored to their needs
  • Working closely with local services (housing, healthcare, mental health teams) to create seamless support pathways
  • Encouraging and assisting individuals to access treatment, housing, and health services
What You'll Need:
  • Experience in substance misuse, homelessness support, or mental health
  • A strong understanding of harm reduction and outreach‑based interventions
  • The ability to engage with hard‑to‑reach individuals and build rapport
  • A proactive, non‑judgemental approach with excellent communication skills
  • Experience working in multi‑agency environments
  • A valid driving licence and willingness to travel around Newcastle
Why Belmont?
  • Work for a respected organisation making a real impact in the community
  • Opportunity to develop your skills in outreach and harm reduction
  • Supportive team environment with ongoing training opportunities
  • Weekly pay and flexible working arrangements.

In addition to this role, Belmont Recruitment also offers different mental health contracts in the area, providing further opportunities for professional growth and development.
