As our Volunteer Experience Coordinator, you'll be at the heart of volunteering across the Hinton Portfolio, ensuring every volunteer feels welcomed, supported and valued throughout their journey with us. You'll lead on the day-to-day coordination of volunteering, helping to create positive, inclusive and rewarding experiences that enable people to contribute their time, skills and passion to caring for our special places.

As part of the Visitor Operations & Experience team, you'll work across the portfolio to support volunteers and help deliver great experiences for our visitors. It's a collaborative, fast-paced environment where you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference to both the volunteer and visitor experience every day.

The role is expected to work across several different properties across Hampshire and West Sussex so you will need to be willing and able to travel.

What it's like to work here

The Hinton Portfolio includes Hinton Ampner, Uppark House and Garden, Winchester City Mill, and Ludshott and Selborne Commons; a diverse collection of special places cared for by passionate staff and volunteers.

Reporting to the Visitor Operations & Experience Manager, you'll work across departments to support volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, recognition and communications. You'll be the key link between National Trust volunteering standards and local delivery, helping teams build thriving volunteer communities that support both our visitor offer and conservation ambitions. Alongside managing volunteer systems, events and administration, you'll play an important role in ensuring our houses remain open and welcoming by helping develop and sustain a strong volunteer workforce.

What

you'll be doing

You'll lead the day-to-day coordination of volunteering across the Hinton Portfolio, ensuring volunteers are recruited, supported and equipped to deliver an excellent experience for our visitors. Working closely with volunteer managers and teams across our places, you'll help build a positive and inclusive volunteer culture while ensuring our volunteer programmes run smoothly and effectively.

A key part of the role will be leading the daily operation that enables a consistent visitor offer within Hinton Ampner and Uppark houses. You'll coordinate volunteer and staff resources, lead for house opening and front-of-house delivery, oversee volunteer communications and events, and use data and insight to continually improve both the volunteer and visitor experience.

You'll also champion the volunteer voice, gathering feedback and acting on insights to continually improve experiences. Whether organising portfolio-wide volunteer celebrations, producing newsletters, supporting managers with recruitment, or working with colleagues to remove barriers and create more inclusive opportunities, you'll help ensure volunteering remains rewarding, impactful and welcoming for everyone.
