This role is an exciting opportunity to work into the Newcastle GP Services (NGPS) Flexible Workforce Hub (Flexipool). Flexipool is an active bank of clinical and non-clinical staff, covering multiple roles within General Practice. The aim of Flexipool is to provide flexible working into Primary Care, to cover planned leave, existing vacancies andshort-notice unplanned absence across General Practice in Newcastle.
Joining the Flexipool team provides an opportunity to workinto Primary Care across Newcastle in a way that suits you and yourcommitments. This role is currently only open to Practice Nurses who have experience in Primary Care and the required competencies, we are not offering a training route into this role at this time.
This role is offered on a 0 hours contract, and working hours are flexible and negotiable depending on your availability and practicevacancies. The job location will be varied across practices and services in Newcastle, and we will work with you to match an appropriate role to your locationpreferences. Main duties of the jobAs a Practice Nurse, you will be responsible for the provision of clinical services, working within practice guidelines and governance frameworks.

Job responsibilitiesClinical care, including: interventions,medications, assessment, wound care and management, cervical screening, earcare, vaccines, pre-travel health, prescribed therapies
Health promotion, including: alcohol screening, smoking cessation, healthydiet, physical activity, weight management, sexual health and family planning
Sexual health, including: health promotion,investigation and contraception
Long term conditions, including: screening,diagnosis, ongoing management, and referral to other agencies in line with NICE guidance and Quality and Outcome Framework indicators
Develop and follow referral pathways
Risk stratification and care planning
Quality assurance and service support
Recognise opportunities to reduce inequalitiesand unwarranted variation
Handle sensitive and confidential information
Ensuring the privacy, dignity and safety of individuals is maintained at all times
Use of clinical IT systems, and maintaining accurate patient records
Recognise and report issues relating to safeguarding vulnerable children and adults
Person Specification Qualifications- Qualified Nurse, registered with the NMC
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Previous experience as a qualified Nurse within General Practice/Primary Care
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Organisation and time management skills
- Management of long term conditions e.g. asthma, COPD, diabetes, CHD
- Experience of GP systems
- Basic IT skills
- Competencies required - immunisations, cervical screening

£18.10 an hour Enhanced rate of x1.5 p/h is applied for Saturday working
