The

Position:

The position supports the Senior Charge Nurse in maintaining overall responsibility for the inpatient area, overseeing the delivery of care for all acute Medical, Surgical, Gynaecology and Orthopaedic admissions across all age groups. The post holder provides clinical leadership to the nursing team, ensuring safe and effective clinical practice, enhancing the patient experience, and contributing to the management and development of the team.

The role also supports the delivery of the organisation’s wider objectives.

The Candidate:

The candidate will hold a relevant nursing qualification and be registered on the appropriate part of the NMC Register for the clinical area, with evidence of continuing professional development to at least degree level. They will have substantial post-registration experience within a relevant acute care setting and demonstrate a high level of clinical and professional expertise, supported by both practical experience and theoretical knowledge, enabling them to work confidently and competently within an acute Medical and Surgical environment.
The candidate will also show clear motivation and enthusiasm for the ongoing development of nursing practice, the delivery of high-quality patient care, and the continuous enhancement of the patient experience.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NHS Orkney.
