A leading scientific organisation is seeking a proactive Lab Technician to join their team and support a diverse range of particle and powder characterisation, as well as formulation development projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are adaptable, eager to learn new laboratory techniques, and confident in troubleshooting equipment.

This organisation is home to some of the world’s best particle scientists. They understand the criticality of de-risking solid form selection, optimising particle engineering, and understanding the link between particle properties and product performance. From their state-of-the-art facilities in Sandwich, UK, they provide lab and consultancy services tailored to meet customers' needs, timelines and budgets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct particle and powder characterisation using a variety of analytical techniques (e.g., laser diffraction, surface area analysis, microscopy, powder flow testing, compaction studies).
  • Assist with formulation development, including blending, granulation, mixing, and sample preparation.
  • Support troubleshooting and maintenance of laboratory instruments.
  • Accurately record, analyse, and present experimental results.
  • Adhere to laboratory quality systems (experience with GLP/GMP/ISO is advantageous).
  • Maintain high standards of safety and laboratory housekeeping.
  • Work flexibly to support evolving project needs and new techniques.
Key requirements
  • Some laboratory experience (academic or industrial) and basic competence in lab skills.
  • Familiarity with particle or powder characterisation is beneficial.
  • Ability to follow SOPs and structured protocols.
  • Willingness to learn new techniques and support formulation tasks.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Confident in using and troubleshooting characterisation equipment.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workload.
  • Strong documentation and data reporting skills.
