The R&D Principal Scientist is responsible for providing expertise regarding technical aspects of product development, current and future technologies and products on market. They may also be responsible for the people management of a team of up to 3 associates. This position reports to the R&D Manager and is part of the R&D team located in Newcastle Upon Tyne and will be an on-site role.
Inthis role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Be part of a winning R&D team, delivering projects through expertise in assay design and clinical expertise across multiple, complex R&D projects.
- Apply scientific and customer insight into current and future strategy of assay and system development.
- Build scientific and problem solving capability in others through ongoing self professional development and mentoring or managing others within the team.
- Demonstrated expertise in scoring and interpretation of IHC (HER2 and Allred scoring desirable).
- Significant experience in immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridisation, gained within a clinical or academic histopathology laboratory.
- Expert knowledge of cancer biology and clinically relevant biomarkers and diagnostic panels.
- End-to-end clinical histology laboratory workflows, including fixation, microtomy, staining, and interpretation.
- Leading or providing structured coaching, mentoring, or technical training to associates or peers.
- Antibody or diagnostic assay development in an academic, clinical, or industrial environment.
- Experience in digital and/or computational pathology methodologies and applications.
