About the Role

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Centre Support Worker to join our team and make a meaningful difference to the lives of vulnerable individuals within our community.

In this rewarding role, you will work closely with service users to identify their needs, develop person-centred support plans, and empower them to achieve greater independence. You will provide practical and emotional support, build strong partnerships with local agencies, and help ensure individuals can access the services and resources they need to improve their wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate support services within the centre, including food provision, referrals, and assistance with forms and applications.
  • Develop, implement, and review person-centred support plans tailored to individual needs and aspirations.
  • Support service users to build confidence, independence, and life skills through coaching and one-to-one support.
  • Assist individuals with budgeting, nutrition, tenancy-related matters, and attending appointments.
  • Conduct welfare checks and provide ongoing support to service users.
  • Encourage engagement, participation, and empowerment by helping individuals make informed decisions about their lives.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and uphold safeguarding responsibilities at all times.
  • Manage enquiries, concerns, suggestions, and complaints, resolving issues or escalating where appropriate.
  • Complete and maintain accurate case records and referral information in line with GDPR requirements.
  • Carry out risk assessments and deliver support in accordance with risk management plans.
  • Build strong working relationships with local authorities, housing providers, healthcare services, charities, and other support agencies.
  • Assist with the recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers.
  • Support the planning and delivery of centre activities, events, and group sessions.
  • Respond professionally to telephone and email enquiries.
  • Promote the centre and its services through networking, partnership meetings, and community engagement activities.
  • Welcome visitors, clients, and contractors, ensuring health and safety procedures are followed.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding legislation, organisational policies, and operational standards.
About You

Essential Criteria

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Extensive experience supporting adults with additional or complex support needs.
  • Experience working with vulnerable individuals in a person-centred environment.
  • Experience working collaboratively with external agencies and support organisations.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and health and safety requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to build trusting relationships and engage effectively with a wide range of people.
  • Experience using practical and emotional support interventions to help individuals achieve positive outcomes.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate records.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach to work.
  • Excellent listening skills and a commitment to treating all people with dignity, respect, and compassion.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Empathy for and commitment to the organisation's values and mission.
Desirable Criteria
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Relevant qualification in Health & Social Care, Community Support, Counselling, or a related field.
  • Experience working within the charity or voluntary sector.
  • Experience recruiting, training, or supervising volunteers.
  • Experience completing risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of housing, welfare benefits, and tenancy support systems.
  • Knowledge of local support agencies and community resources.
  • Strong networking and partnership-building skills.
