Are you interested in a rewarding role in the County Council's Cultural Services team to ensure that Museum, Archive, Library and Art collections are safely transported between our venues, to schools, community organisations and other museums and galleries around the country?

About the Role

Culture Leicestershire is looking for a specialist transport officer who can provide a high quality, secure and efficient movement and transport service for museum, archive, library and art collections including exhibition and other equipment. This is a vital role within our team as you will be responsible for safely moving and transporting a wide range of museum and other collections that can include unique artefacts, paintings, sculptures, small machinery, archive documents and historic costume and textiles.

These collections move between our heritage, library and other community venues and you will often have to deliver and collect objects to other museums and galleries, to schools and colleges and also from people’s homes and places of business. You may well be the only member of the team that people meet so we also need you to be a great ambassador for what we do.

A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.

For information on our approach to the recruitment of ex-offenders, please see ourpolicy statement.

Our Team

Culture Leicestershire is the County Council’s Libraries, Collections and Learning, Heritage and Museums and Cultural Participation services, together we are an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation. Our service includes 16 County Council libraries, 33 community-managed libraries, mobile libraries and a prison library;
Five Accredited museums;
Museum collections containing over 500,000 objects and their care and conservation;
The Record Office for Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland; the Cultural Participation team who work with communities and individuals across the county and Creative Learning Services who provide access to library, museum and art resources to schools, colleges and academies across Leicestershire and in Leicester City.

We offer in-person access to our services in our libraries and museums, in people’s homes, in schools and in places where communities come together to explore their heritage, share a love of reading, be creative, learn and explore. Our digital, online and remote services add value to our in-person offer and bring an added depth of information, content and experience.

We have small teams who all have specialist skills and knowledge and work closely with the public and behind the scenes to provide an exciting programme of activities, events, exhibitions and displays.

You’ll be a key member of the team making sure that our collections are safely transported to where they need to be, whether its in our own venues or in museums and galleries across the country.
