I’m working with a long‑established tech house that’s been quietly powering digital platforms and mobile products for over twenty years. They operate in sectors where failure simply isn’t an option, regulated industries that demand engineering discipline, architectural clarity, and software that doesn’t just “work”, but endures.

And now, they’re looking for a Lead Java Engineer who can guide that craft forward.

You’ll step into a role with real influence, leading the technical direction of user‑facing products used at scale, where performance, reliability, and design decisions truly matter.

Here, engineers have a seat at the table. You’ll shape architecture, raise engineering standards, and be the voice of best practice across:

• Java, Spring Boot, Microservices
• Kafka
• SQL

(And no, you don’t need to tick every single box.)

You’ll lead by example: setting the bar on clean code, testing, maintainability, resilience. Coaching engineers. Challenging assumptions. Guiding decisions that make these products stronger, faster, and built for longevity.

This is leadership with momentum not management by paperwork. You’ll be hands‑on, influential, and shaping systems that matter.

Up to £85k-£90k, flexible working, bonuses, life insurance, dedicated training programmes, and a whole range of perks. London‑based with a hybrid setup.
