In this role, you will provide design/engineering support to engineers to develop complex and complete 2D and 3D models for highway and/or bridge projects during the design and construction phases. These models and associated data will be used for engineering, construction, and asset management purposes to support the continued implementation/transition of BIM throughout the agency.
You will keep up to date on evolving road and bridge related technologies, including digital delivery, data management, digital twins, generative design, modeling and analysis, ISO‑19650, model as the legal document, and CAD to GIS. You will also collaborate with BIM leaders nationwide through groups such as The Highway Engineering Exchange Program (HEEP) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to help reshape the way CTDOT delivers projects.
You will be part of a team responsible for managing CAD Applications, using Bentley Open Roads Designer and Open Bridge Designer as well as Bentley Infrastructure Cloud. You will help in‑house employees, develop training guides, and provide training as necessary.

Responsibilities- Oversee work of lower‑level engineers and perform complex design work.
- Design difficult foundations and bridges of advanced design.
- Make field inspections of bridge sites to obtain information necessary for design of important structures.
- Oversee field inspections of structural condition of existing structures and prepare sketches, plans and recommendations for adequate repair.
