The Transportation Engineer Trainee will work within the Project Controls Unit's Cost Estimating section at Connecticut DOT Headquarters in Newington, providing support for the AASHTOWare Project software suite, including cost estimating and asset tracking modules. The role includes training to prepare engineer's estimates for smaller projects, manage user accounts, coordinate enhancements, and develop training materials. After one year, successful trainees are promoted to Transportation Engineer 1, with further advancement to Transportation Engineer 2 after two additional years.
Keyqualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required (or PE/EIT licensure may substitute)
- Valid motor vehicle operator's license required and must be maintained
- Experience with software implementation and adaptation to specific needs
- Proficiency with computer-aided design software (Micro Station) and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to work independently and present complex information to diverse audiences
